World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Item upgrades are a way to increase the stats of an item. Depending on the type of upgrade, it may increase the rarity of an item, or its Mark Level and increase other stats.

Each item comes with a track for upgrading it. Each upgrade increases the price of the next item by a certain amount.

Item Level

The value of an item's stats base increases when it is upgraded. This is the sum of an item's upgraded perks (attack magic attack and defense). The cost of upgrading items can be high, depending on the upgrader you choose and the kind of upgrade you decide to make. This is due to the variety of perks that must be altered to upgrade an item.

item upgrades  is also used as a gating requirement while waiting for dungeons, raids and scenarios. It can also be used as a gating requirement when waiting for dungeons, scenarios, and raids, as well as to limit the amount of PvP gear players can wear (since PvP is limited to the lower levels). Players can view their average item level in their character sheet.

When deciding whether to purchase or sell equipment players can evaluate the item level. It's an indicator of the item's condition and its quality. Comparing items in the inventory of a vendor can be done by using the level of the item.

On PC, you are able to check the level of the item using ALT, or by using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. This will display the item's full description, including the ilvl. You can also find it by hovering over an item and typing /itemlevel into chat.

There are many theories about how the item level is calculated. One theory is that the level is a numerical value derived from a formula that determines the amount an item's stats are worth. It takes into consideration that different advantages are valued differently and that gems in sockets increase the item's value. This can result in a calculated amount for the item's ilvl which is usually close to the actual Blizzard level of the item.

This is not the only factor that influences the value of an item. The degree of the area in which the item was dropped may change its stats. For instance it can increase the item's haste or crit rating. This means that items dropped at higher levels will have higher ilvl than those from lower-level instances.

Item Stats

The stats of an item are a major component of what determines the value of an item for players. The game makes use of a lot of them in various ways to encourage players to use multiple weapons, and also to stop one weapon from being "the best." The base stats on a weapon are boosted by the weapon's stat modification which are then enhanced by the player's level.

Item upgrades add to that by increasing certain stats on the item. The upgrade costs are determined by the rarity of the item. For instance, a gray or white item can only be upgraded once, while items with rare levels will be upgraded multiple times with higher prices.

Another method to alter the stats on an item is to use affixes.  one-time offer  are stat boosters that can be added by the player to an item. Affixes can be used to give the item extra damage, or give a specific ability to the item (such as reviving the dead or decreasing the duration of cooldowns), or make the item unique by putting an additional name to the item.

All affixes can be re-rolled at the moment by selecting them in the upgrade window, and pressing the green button. This procedure will cost the player a specific amount of gold and items, which can be used to add to the upgrade gauge in the same manner as the other options for rerolling.

Players can choose to upgrade an item by a specific stat or reroll attaches. The possible ranges of stats for an item are determined by the level of the item, however every item is guaranteed to have at least one stat within the range, unless it is an exclusive item or a God roll from a boss of a raid.

This is another aspect that can be modified by adding an option to upgrade the equipment without having to reroll the affixes or deciding which stats to enhance. Like the base equipment, it would have to be done per item, and the interface for item comparison would not display all the possible stats simultaneously.

Item Luck

The Luck stat of a player boosts the chance of finding items as well as the properties spawned by loot and the strength of these properties. It does not, however directly impact damage or the ability to upgrade items. It gives the player the chance to upgrade their equipment earlier in the game. This is more useful for early game runs, since players tend to prioritize defenses and weapon scaling over raw damage gains.

Luck can also increase the chance of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This isn't to be confused with the Blacksmith’s overall chance of upgrading that increase with each level of the item. These can also be increased with the use of anti-materials such as a Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.

Armor, shields and weapons can be made or spawn using the Luck property, with the default value of 40. These items can be improved by using golden ingots or spined leather (depending on the material they are made of) to add another 40 luck or to increase the Luck of an item up to 140.

Additionally some items, such as the Hollow weapon that is infused with hollow can be outfitted to boost the damage of any damage-dealing skill by five percent. These items can be bought in the shop or constructed using the right ingredients.

Item Failure

Not all upgrades work. Cash shop items can be used to boost the chances of success for an upgrade or to stop players from losing their item if it is not successful.

When you upgrade an item the success rate is shown in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the probability of successfully upgrading that item, and can be increased by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. There are limitations on the extent to which the success rates can be improved, and the overall chance of a failed upgrade cannot exceed 100%.

The success of an item upgrade is also affected by the luck of the item. Every item has an average success rate of 25% and each item with Luck increases that chance by five percent.

The upgrade overlays of the item are rendered above items in the inventory. This can block enchantment effects as well as other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
